2. You want to get rid of the routine background noises of nature; this will make the signal you get as you detect things clearer and easier to hear. 3. After you get the hit, swing the detector both ways (back and forth) over the area. Next, step away, press the pinpoint button, and come back toward the target area. Now, here’s a little extra tip – on this second series of swings, to them at ninety degrees from the direction you swung the detector the first time. This will help you to get a good lock on the exact position. Then, get your shovel and start digging!
